The Boston International Music Competition (BIMC) is recruiting young music talents from around the world to participate. This grand music event was jointly founded in 2022 and organized by several professors from WeStar Academy of Music, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, and the Department of Music of Harvard University. The current 26 competition judges are composed of professors from top music schools and world-renowned musicians from USA, China, France and England. BIMC continues to offer a competition prize budget up to US$20,000, thanks to the WeStar Music Education Foundation. We will help you realize your dreams!
The Boston International Music Competition (BIMC) has expanded its scope and now comprises four independent components, as outlined below:
- BIMC Premier has FOUR categories: (1) Voice, (2) Piano, (3) Strings, (4) Other Instruments. The competition team is limited up to 4 members. Teams with 5 or more members should participate BICEC.
- BICEC, Boston Int'l Chorus & Ensemble Competition, has TWO categories: (1) Chorus, (2) Ensemble & Orchestra. The competition team is limited to 5 or more members.
- BICC, Boston Int'l Composition Competition, has THREE categories: (1) Solo or Duet, (2) Trio, Quartet, Quintet or Chamber music, (3) Large Ensemble or Orchestra music.
- BICSC, Boston Int'l Chinese Song Competition, has THREE categories: (1) Bel Canto, (2) Folk Songs, (3) Popular Songs. The competition team is limited up to 4 members. Teams with 5 or more members should participate BICEC.
The competitions will attract contestants from different countries and regions, with age requirements ranging from 5 to 35 years old. Adult contestants aged 19 to 30 are divided into music major groups and non-music major groups. Previous year’s competitions have attracted contestants from 16 different countries and regions. The youngest contestant was a 5-year-old pianist from Turkey. In previous years, the competitions were reported by more than 50 medias with views over one million people.
BIMC is not only an international music competition but also provides a stage for teenagers and young musicians to showcase their talents. The BIMC final competition will be in-person in Boston, followed by the winners' concert, awards ceremony and various masterclasses then after. This will be a wonderful music festival for young musicians to gather together to celebrate their passion and love in music in Boston, a famous cultural and artistic city! The mission of the Boston International Music Competition is to promote the beauty of music, to recruit outstanding musical talents, and to encourage young people to love music and benefit their academic development. We also hope to promote cultural exchange and better understanding between different countries and regions.
